The National Domestic Workers Alliance (www.domesticworkers.org) organizes domestic workers in the United States for respect, recognition and labor standards. Through leadership development, strategic campaigns and alliance building, we seek to help build a powerful movement for social and global justice. The Alliance formed in 2007 at the US Social Forum and currently represents 60 affiliated organizations in 36 cities and 17 states nationally, plus local chapters developed by NDWA in Atlanta, Durham, Washington DC and New York City, and a robust individual online membership. NDWA has experienced immense growth and currently operates with an $18 million budget.
Care in Action is a (501c4) nonprofit, nonpartisan group dedicated to fighting for dignity and fairness for the millions of domestic workers in the United States, most of whom are women. Founded in 2016, Care in Action is backed by tens of thousands of nannies, house cleaners, and care workers across the country. Care in Action provides the tools, trainings, and community working families need to make their voices heard, and organize and advocate for respect, recognition, and inclusion in labor protections. Care in Action’s 2020 budget will reach $9 million.
NDWA Labs is the innovation arm of the National Domestic Workers Alliance (NDWA). Founded in 2015, NDWA Labs was launched to experiment with new strategies for improving marketplace norms for domestic workers, including launching sustainable ventures and collaborating with the private sector. Our approach is to innovate, build smart and practical tools and products, and form private sector partnerships that help us reach and lift standards for domestic workers. In particular, NDWA Labs has been experimenting with ways to use technology to ensure we are shaping a future of work that works for all of us, not just some of us. NDWA Labs is an LLC that is single member owned by Care in Action (501c4).
NDWA seeks a detail-oriented, highly methodical, and collaborative Director of Grants & Budgets to work with the Finance and Development teams to help ensure the achievement of grant deliverables and financial service functions for programs funded by grants. The Director of Grants & Budgets plays a crucial role in NDWA, Care in Action and NDWA Labs achieving their bold goals, and will demonstrate an understanding of program work, as well as financial management. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer, works extensively with members of the Development Team, and collaborates with program staff from over 20 program areas.
